Elizabeth White is an icon of New Jersey agriculture. She is most famously credited with the domestication of the highbush blueberry. This milestone accomplishment was conducted in collaboration with Frederick Coville of the USDA. Elizabeth White was dedicated to Vaccinium culture and the supporting industries. The endowment was established in 1954 in accordance with her Last Will and Testament. The purpose of the endowment is to support research on economic crops, primarily blueberries and cranberries.
Since its inception the Fund has supported research on soil analysis, nutrition of blueberries and development of a blueberry harvester.
