Richard De Stefano
Farm Supervisor

Richard has worked at the Marucci Blueberry and Cranberry Research and Extension Center since 1978, originally as a field technician for a blueberry and cranberry plant breeder. In 1988 Richard was promoted to Research Farm Supervisor where he was responsible for the Blueberry operation at the Center.

In 1996 Richard's responsibilities increased to include the maintenance of the cranberry operation, in which he oversees the entire maintenance of the facility. His responsibilities include buildings and grounds, greenhouse maintenance, blueberry and cranberry field operations (spraying, harvesting, etc.), and assisting field researchers with their work.

While Richard's skills encompass plumbing, electrical, machine operation, field layout, field irrigation set up, and carpentry, his expertise involves the use of pesticides and pesticide spraying. He has a commercial pesticide license in plant agricultural and attends classes for certification, staying updated on newer chemicals that are approved for blueberry and cranberry field spraying.
